Battery-Free Flash
Flash Tronic, circa 1948.
No Batteries Required

Flash uses a sprung wound magneto. One turn of the knob on the bottom arms it.

The camera shutter is tripped via the flash button (front of flash body) which has a mechanical relay (bottom hole) that connects to the camera’s shutter. Other flashes can be tripped via the connections shown in right picture, bottom. (The main disadvantage is this flash cannot be triggered with a regular slave unit.)

It still works!
